Satdobate School Bathroom upgrade
The current bathroom facilities at this wonderful school are insufficient for the school role of 350 students. Help us renovate and upgrade the earthquake damaged toilet blocks and get them back bigger and better!!
The Gyan Jyoti Secondary School (Satdobate School) is located in the Kispang Rural Municipality approximately a 5-hour drive north of Kathmandu city. It is situated in a very poor part of the district. The school runs classes from nursery to class 12. The students are mainly from low-income families and the school motto is ‘Providing Education to the Poorest of the Poor.’
The school and staff do the very best they can with the facilities and tools they have but many parts of the school are below standard. The rebuild post 2015 earthquake has been completed but some of the most important facilities are still lacking…Ie the Bathrooms.
The current bathrooms are grossly inadequate for the demand and students often have to stand in long queues to wait their turn. The 2015 earthquakes severely damaged to old bathrooms rendering them unusable. Ever since due to lack of funding there is one girls and one boy’s bathroom block sitting damaged and unused… The plan is to clean up, renovate, build on additions and reopen the old bathroom blocks as brand-new facilities to be more functional and hygienic than before. There will be proper plumbing, tiling and water tanks. There will be stone and brick masonry work done to repurpose the old bathrooms and quality hand basins will be installed. This along with new and sufficient sanitation stations for the children to use will be of great benefit to the student’s health at school.
The project is quoted to cost $15,000 NZD.
Please help the Active hearts Foundation provide safe, clean and functional bathroom facilities.
Every donation to this cause is greatly appreciated.
