Bhawani School Classroom Furniture
In the Himalayan foothills of Nuwakot district is beautiful Kakani village
Located 1.5hrs drive north of Kathmandu city this community is blessed with incredible vistas of the Ganesh Himal and the Manaslu mountain ranges
This region is home to the Bhawani Higher Secondary school
There are 765 pupils and 21 teachers. Of the 26 classrooms 16 were damaged in the 2015 Nepal Earthquakes. Earthquake rebuild funding was quickly used to get the school reopened however not everything could be completed before the money ran out.
Active Hearts Foundation has been assisting this wonderful school since Nov 2018. This was our second project for this school. Previously we have fundraised for and installed much needed classroom windows and doors.

After visiting the classrooms and speaking with the school Principal and teachers, we saw there was a huge lack of seating and workplaces for the students. In one class alone there is 85 students and not enough space for them to learn sufficiently.
Active Hearts agreed to raise the $2500 needed to build the furniture
With that in mind Active Hearts Foundation agreed to fund the construction of 20 bench and table combinations. Local builders were employed for the job and they were made on site.
The project was a success and the new furniture has made a huge difference to the quality of the learning environments for the students and teachers.
A group of Active Hearts members attended a lovely celebration ceremony at the school to offical hand over the new classroom furniture. The school hosted us and gave wonderful speeches and dancing performances by the students.

Thank you very much to all those who have donated to Active Hearts and allow us to continue to implement these projects helping the children of Nepal.
